Email for Life

The UM Alumni Association proudly offers alumni an email address that lasts a lifetime.

Email for Life ensures that your @miami.edu email address forwards to your personal email address, as noted in CaneLink. This is a great way to show your Hurricane pride! 

Have you recently graduated? If you haven’t already done so, log into CaneLink (canelink.miami.edu) and add your personal email address. (Step-by-step instructions.) Upon graduation, your UM emails will forward to your personal email address, as noted in CaneLink. For more information, visit the My.IT site.

• I am having trouble logging in – what do I do?

  1. Make sure you are entering your CaneID in all lower-case letters.
     • Example: xyz123
  2. If you have not logged in within the last six months, your email may have gone inactive:
     • If you know your CaneID or C-number:
       • Email UM IT at help@miami.edu and be sure to include your CaneID or C-number in the email.
     • If you don’t know your C-number:
       • Contact the UM Alumni Association at alumni@miami.edu or 305-284-2872 to be given your C-number

• How do I ensure my UM email for life stays active?

  • Be sure to log into CaneLink at least once every six months to keep your University of Miami CaneID active, which ensures your email forwarding continues seamlessly. 

  • Once logged in, click on the CaneLink for Student tile (even though you are an alumnus) to keep your email for life active
