Boat-Burning Ceremony and Fireworks Show
All eyes will be on Lake Osceola as thousands of ’Canes gather for one of the University’s most cherished traditions: the boat-burning ceremony and spectacular fireworks show. Legend has it that if the mast of the boat falls before the boat sinks, the Miami Hurricanes will win the Homecoming football game the following day. Passed down since 1956 from one generation of ’Canes to the next, this unique student-led tradition reminds us that the U’s indomitable, pioneering spirit still burns ever brighter.
