’Canes Lounge

Known as our biggest party for alumni and friends, ’Canes Lounge boasts photo ops, games, Sebastian the Ibis, and special performances by the Band of the Hour, the cheerleaders, and the Sunsations. It is the ideal place for alumni and friends to gather and celebrate with front-row seats to the boat burning and fireworks. The cost of each ticket includes food and open bar, and proceeds benefit student scholarships. Advance ticket purchase required.

8:30 p.m.

Lake Osceola

Boat Burning Ceremony and Fireworks Show

All eyes will be on Lake Osceola for one of the University’s most cherished traditions: the boat-burning ceremony and spectacular fireworks show. Legend has it that if the mast of the boat falls before the boat sinks, the Miami Hurricanes will win the Homecoming football game the following day. Passed down since 1956 from one generation of ’Canes to the next, this unique student-led tradition reminds us that the U’s indomitable, pioneering spirit still burns ever brighter.
