Kailey Walsh, B.S.C. ’16

1st VP, Programming Committee

Associate Attorney, DLA Piper LLP
I am a proud graduate of the University of Miami with a dual degree in economics and communications. I was born and raised an hour from the U in Boca Raton and spent many years traveling throughout the country competing in women’s amateur golf and national junior golf tournaments. While at Miami, I was captain of the nationally-ranked women’s golf team for three years and was a three-time selection to the ACC Academic All-Conference Team. During my senior year, our ’Canes women’s golf team advanced to the NCAA finals tournament for the first time in over 20 years. Representing the University of Miami on the national stage was one of the highlights of my college experience. Being a student-athlete at the U taught me discipline, time management, and hard work, which are values that I carry with me to this day. These values allowed me to double major, maintain a high GPA, earn the Frazier D. White Communication Award, and gain acceptance and an academic scholarship to Loyola Law School, a top law school in Los Angeles. While at Loyola, I served as a judicial extern in federal court for the Honorable Judge Klausner in the Central District of California, was a member of the Entertainment Law Review, and served on the editorial board as the senior articles and symposia editor. During this time, I wrote an article on sports gambling legislation, "Going ‘All In’ after Murphy v. NCAA: An Approach for California to Legalize Sports Gambling,” that was published in the University of California Hastings Communications and Entertainment Law Journal. I graduated in May 2020 and subsequently passed the California Bar Exam. I currently live in Newport Beach and am an associate attorney at DLA Piper LLP, representing companies in mergers and acquisitions as well as venture capital strategic investments. At DLA Piper, I am a member of the Media, Sport and Entertainment sector, where our team of attorneys focuses on new legal developments in sports betting, among other things. I have lived in Southern California for the past five years, splitting my time between Los Angeles and Newport Beach. I am grateful to have my two brothers, Ryan and Blair, nearby, as well as my parents, who split their time between Florida and California. I have so many fond memories of my time at the University of Miami, and although I have made my home in Southern California, I am always so heartened by the universal recognition of the U. I will forever be a proud ’Cane, and I look forward to serving students, alumni, and the entire University of Miami community as a member of the Young Alumni Leaders Council.

Before moving to Durham, Lauren Lee served as the Senior Director of Education at HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS), a large nonprofit located in Brooklyn focused on foster care.  In her role, she expanded the college scholarship program—the American Dream Program—from being the sole coach for the young people in care to overseeing a team of coaches who provided holistic support and guidance to over 100 youth.  She created the model of coaching that is now used in the Fair Futures Program, which is being implemented in the 26 agencies across NYC.  Lauren Lee also coordinated grants and established the Junior Board of Directors at HSVS.  After working with her team on weekdays, Lauren Lee conquered the asphalt as a runner, including running through the boroughs in NYC Marathon.

Then, shortly after she married her law school sweetheart and study partner, Abraham Schewel, Esq., she was diagnosed with a complicated case of lupus that has yet to be in remission.  But she continues to beat the odds as a lupus warrior. She loves hosting a good party, cheering on her favorite teams, and sharing giggles with her daughter.

In Durham, Lauren Lee is Chair of the Board of LIFE Skills, on the Board of the Lupus Foundation of North Carolina, involved at Immaculate Conception Church as a member of the Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Committee, and on the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties’ (JLDOC) Community Impact Process Committee.  She is also on the Newcomb Alumnae Board.  She and Abe, a native Durhamite, fellow Miami Scholar, and an attorney working in civil rights and criminal justice, welcomed their greatest gift to the world in June of 2021, Josephine Lee Marie.

Mansaab “Ali” Khan, B.B.A. ’15, M.S.Ed. ’18

GENERAL MEMBER

Senior Program Manager, Pinterest
Growing up in Princeton, New Jersey, I knew I needed a way to escape the cold, so after graduating from high school I took my talent to the University of Miami (Go ’Canes!), where I obtained my B.B.A. in business law and accounting. However, I just was not ready to leave the best university in the country, so I went on to receive my M.S.Ed. in higher education administration.

After graduating, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for an amazing opportunity in student affairs, which I will never forget. I saw a lack of diversity and preparedness for students entering the workforce from my previous institutions, which caused me to switch my focus to scaling teams at some of the world’s most prestigious companies: Spotify and SoulCycle. My passion for finance, technology, and scaling teams brought me to the New York City area, where I most recently worked at ZIP-QuadPay, a global leader in the FinTech space, as the head of technical talent acquisition. I now work for Pinterest, leading our talent programs for applied science and advanced technologies in North America. I strive to make a greater impact for a mission I love — investing in people! However, the U will always be a home to me, because without spending my time there I would have never been able to discover who I am and the passion I have for investing in people.

Kailey Walsh, B.S.C. ’16

GENERAL MEMBER

Associate Attorney, Arent Fox LLP
I am a proud graduate of the University of Miami with a dual degree in economics and communications. I was born and raised an hour from the U in Boca Raton, and spent many years traveling throughout the country competing in women’s amateur golf and national junior golf tournaments. While at Miami, I was captain of the nationally ranked women’s golf team for three years and was a three-time selection to the ACC Academic All-Conference Team.

I currently live in Los Angeles and am an associate attorney at Arent Fox LLP, representing companies in business and commercial matters and providing pre-litigation counseling to clients. At Arent Fox I am a member of the sports industry group, where our team of attorneys focuses on new legal developments in sports betting, among other things.
