Getting Ready for a New Season

Dust off your turnover chains and throw on your finest 'Canes gear! Our Miami Hurricanes will play their opening game in Arlington, Texas as they face the LSU Tigers in the AdvoCare Classic on Sunday, September 2. The UM Alumni Association will be hosting a fantastic Pregame Celebration sure to kick the season off with a bang! The pregame will feature VIP access to AT&T Stadium, a ’Canes Pep Rally with performances by the University of Miami Band of the Hour and Cheerleaders, unlimited buffet and more. Limited tickets are available, so don’t delay in getting yours! 

While we patiently await Opening Day, plenty more is happening around campus to help fuel the excitement. The Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility is in its final stages of construction, and slated to open just in time for fall camp in August. “Everything that touches our program is going to be redone,” said Coach Mark Richt, B.B.A. '82. “Functionally, it’s going to be awesome in so many areas and the beauty of it is going to be great.” 

Paradise Camp, an annual summer camp held for high school athletes, will start on July 28. This annual event gives current high school student athletes the chance to experience working with our elite coaching staff, famed football alumni, and offers a glimpse of what life at the U is like for a college athlete. The event closes with Coach Richt performing his signature back-flip off the high-dive at the UC Pool. It’s a social media moment you won’t want to miss!
