Education for Life

An exciting new partnership for interdisciplinary learning, developed with the Division of Continuing and International Education and the Office of Engagement, opens up modernized online courses and digital tools for University of Miami alumni.

The new initiative, Education for Life, brings resources and in-depth learning programs to alumni, no matter where in the world they are living.

President Julio Frenk first announced the launch of the initiative at the undergraduate Commencement ceremony on December 12. The goal of the digital learning program is to bring a continued learning experience to all alumni, regardless of their location or career field.

"A student’s relationship with the University of Miami does not end with the awarding of a degree," shares Frenk. "We are excited to shape the future of education by adopting a flexible, open, and holistic approach to learning—one that creates opportunities for lifelong engagement."

The digital platform focuses on providing access to Massive Open Online Courses or (MOOCs), with the first two courses launching on February 3, 2020. Developed in partnership with UM’s Division of Continuing and International Education, these online certificate programs have been specifically selected for alumni.

The classes are entirely online, so they are flexible and available on demand to accommodate busy lifestyles. The programs are designed to help develop and sharpen leadership and management skills.

The first course, How to build relationships: coaching in modern times, explores modern coaching skill development. Statistics show that coaching has emerged as a thriving profession providing highly useful tools for businesses, leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and those going through career or other transformational changes.

The second MOOC being offered, Cybersecurity: Incident Response and Decision Making, explores the foundational knowledge of cybersecurity and related areas, helping prepare leaders who can navigate the challenges presented by cyber incidents.

In addition to the online courses, alumni can discover a host of webinars and digital tools, catered to an array of interests and fields. Learn more and register now
